BJP ruled MCD paid Rs 7 crores to IL&FS company for making project report but no reports have been submitted by this company; why was the payment made: Durgesh Pathak

NEW DELHI:Senior AAP leader and MCD in-charge Shri Durgesh Pathak on Sunday said that the BJP claimed that the Rani Jhansi flyover will be completed in 2 years, then why did it take 24 years for it to be completed.

He said that it was claimed that the flyover will be made in 175 crores but when it was finally completed the amount became 724 crores; what is the reason behind this drastic cost rise. He said that the BJP must answer why it paid Rs 26 crores to a person named Abhishek Gupta by acquiring a government to avoid flyover building blockade; what is BJP’s relationship with this person. Shri Pathak said that the BJP should clarify that despite MCD having a land acquiring agency why were the BJP leaders involved in the process.

He said that the BJP ruled MCD paid Rs 7 crores to IL&FS for making project report but no reports have been submitted by this company; why was the payment made.Senior AAP leader and MCD in-charge Shri Durgesh Pathak said, “Bharatiya Janata Party has been running a government of loot and inefficiency from within the MCD. BJP’s MCD completed the Rani Jhansi flyover taking 24 long years, a flyover that had to be made in 175 crores was made in 724 crores. The AAP government on the other hand showed not only the people of Delhi but people of the country how honest work is done. Arvind Kejriwal’s government made the 302 crores Shastri park flyover in 250 crores within 1.5 years.”He added, “BJP rubbished our claims of corruption despite an audit report of the MCD auditor proving otherwise. The first responsibility of any government and party in a democracy is towards the people.

The BJP cannot claim that the AAP is playing politics and not answer the questions raised by this audit report, because questions have been raised. The people of Delhi and the country want to know what BJP Delhi Chief Adesh Gupta has to say about the 70 objections noted by the auditor in his audit report. We demand that Adesh Gupta come in front of the media and read this 54 page report and answer each objection.”Shri Pathak said, “The AAP has five specific questions to ask, on the basis of the audit report and we hope that the BJP answers them. Our first question, it was claimed that the Rani Jhansi flyover will be completed in 2 years, then why did it take 24 years for it to be completed? Second, it was claimed that the flyover will be made in 175 crores but when it was finally completed the amount became 724 crores. Why was something that could be made in 175 crores made in 724 crores?

Third, government land was acquired for the building of this flyover which MCD cannot do, yet it was acquired and for this land Rs 26-27 crores were paid to Abhishek Gupta. Who is this Abhishek Chowdhary who has been paid these 26-27 crores for government land?”He said, “Fourth, BJP claimed that the cost increased owing to the land acquiring process not the actual construction of the flyover. Our question is, when the land acquiring process has a Land Acquiring Agency of the government which does all this, why were party leaders and engineers involved in it? Was it for the purpose of skimming heavy commissions? Finally our fifth question, IL&FS had to make DPR or detailed project reports for MCD for this project for which they had to be paid Rs 7 crores, while this payment has been made, no reports have been submitted by this company.

The question then is, why was payment made? These are the five questions to which the Aam Aadmi Party seeks answers, on behalf of the people of Delhi.”Shri Vikas Goyal, AAP Leader of Opposition of North MCD said, “The primary task of a government in power is to be accountable to the people, especially in the face of allegations as serious as the ones that have emerged in the face of this audit report. We have been raising questions on this audit report for a while now yet they have gone unanswered. There hasn’t even been an enquiry into the conduct of officials involved. This itself shows the BJP is complicit in the corruption.

Today, the five questions that have been put forward by the Aam Aadmi Party need to be answered and I hope that they will be. Through today’s press conference, it is my request that these questions be answered and that names of the corrupt leaders and officials be put before the people.”
